Canadian Friends Historical Association

Interested in Quaker history? Join like-minded people from all over the world and become a member of the Canadian Friends Historical Association.

The Association was founded in 1972 with the aim of preserving and making known the religious, cultural, social and pioneer heritage of Quakers from when they first settled in Canada until today.

The primary activity of the Association is the publication of the Canadian Quaker History Journal, published twice yearly. The Journal offers timely articles on various aspects of Quaker history in Canada.

The Association actively supports The Quaker Archives and Library of Canada by handling genealogical enquiries; by preparing the genealogical indexes; by obtaining oral histories; by providing financial resources to build the research library; and publishing research.

To that end, the Association has also begun publishing monographs on various aspects of Quaker history in Canada. Discounts are available to members of the Association for all publications. Other publications include genealogical indexes to the Quaker records. An index of the records of Yonge Street Monthly Meeting (covering much of central Ontario, including Newmarket, Uxbridge, Whitchurch, Pickering, King, Mariposa and Collingwood) has already been published. Genealogical files are maintained for other meetings in Canada. They can be consulted in the Dorland Room at Pickering College.

Membership in the Association is open to Friends and all interested Individuals, Friends Meetings, Libraries and other institutions. Membership rates are:

  • Individuals $15.00
  • Seniors & Students $10.00
  • Life membership $200.00

Membership applications should be sent to:
